About

Susan Fruit ASID, GMR, CAPS is a multi-talented, prominent interior designer and remodeling contractor who has a passion for residential design. Susan is the only registered ASID interior designer in Houston who is also a GMR, (a nationally certified master remodeling contractor) and is a CAPS (certified aging-in-place) specialist. Susan has been honing her style and sharpening her skills since graduating from Purdue University’s acclaimed accredited program in interior design in 1973.

Classic comfortable traditional style infused with a mix of contemporary furnishings and antique elements wrapped in soothing color schemes comprise Susan’s signature style. Her reputation has been built on meticulous attention to detail, beautifully appointed interiors accented by carefully curated art and accessories, impressive custom design work executed by her highly skilled trade craftsmen and providing constant job site supervision and accountability to her clients. Her knowledge of architectural history, landscape design, lighting design, interior decorating and accessorizing are top notch and enable her to create fresh, vibrant interiors that remain tasteful, timeless and relevant through the years.

Susan understands that each home renovation project is very important to its homeowners and therefore requires her complete attention and focus, so she does not take on more than one major home renovation project at a time – so as to give herself wholeheartedly to that project. Susan’s loyal clientele know they can rely on her tireless energy, boundless enthusiasm and extensive field experience to bring their projects in on time and to provide outstanding customer service.

While the majority of her work is based in Houston, Texas and the surrounding areas, Susan has designed and decorated homes in the Mid-West, Florida, California and South America.

Susan also created and directed the University of Houston’s three year Interior Design Certificate Program for fourteen years, enabling countless adult students from all walks of life to become professional interior designers. Design education continues to play a major role in Susan’s life as she regularly teaches interior design and home renovation courses at The Women’s Institute of Houston and is a frequently requested speaker for numerous women’s associations.
